No matter what age we are, what category, brand, or price of skin care products we use, our biggest desire is always moisturizing. Today, Beaza will share with you the most basic and common moisturizing ingredients in skin care products.
1.Sodium hyaluronate
Also known as hyaluronic acid, it has extremely strong water absorption and is an important mucus in the dermis. It can absorb hundreds of times its own weight in water and is known as a “highly efficient moisturizing ingredient”. However, its excellent moisturizing function does not last long and usually drops significantly after three hours. In order to prolong its moisturizing effect, it is necessary to add oil-based lotion to reduce water loss.
Hyaluronic acid can be divided into the following three types based on molecular weight:
(1) Macromolecule hyaluronic acid can form a barrier on the skin surface to prevent moisture loss, but it feels sticky to the touch.
(2) Medium molecular hyaluronic acid can moisturize the stratum corneum and provide long-term moisturizing.
(3) Small molecule hyaluronic acid can really penetrate deep into the dermis and improve dryness and aging from the bottom of the skin.
Skin care products containing only a single molecule of hyaluronic acid have limited effects. It is best to choose moisturizing products that combine three molecules.
2.Glycerin
The scientific name is glycerol. Glycerin can be classified as a natural moisturizer. It has a mild texture and is not likely to cause skin allergies. However, glycerin itself only has moisturizing and no skin care functions, so it has a good effect on young, healthy skin. If the skin requires multi-faceted care, the skin care products must also contain other active ingredients and be used in conjunction with glycerin.
3. Natural moisturizing factors
The main ingredients of natural moisturizing factors are amino acids, sodium lactate, urea, etc. It is not as effective as glycerin in terms of simple moisturizing effect, but because of its good skin-friendly properties, it can regulate the acid-base function of the skin and maintain the normal operation of cutin. It not only has a moisturizing function, but also has a certain maintenance function, and is also an indispensable moisturizing ingredient.
4. Collagen
Although collagen is important for skin care, due to its large molecule, it cannot be absorbed by the skin when applied directly. What can really improve the collagen content of your skin is to use collagen boosters, such as vitamin C, vitamin B3, and vitamin A.
